The building opened as St Stephen's parochial School in 1861 and was at the centre of the Battle of Mount Street during the 1916 Easter Rising. The School closed in 1969 and did not re-open again until 1998, when it opened its doors as the Schoolhouse Hotel. Golf at Portmarnock Golf Club

One of the premium links courses in the country. Venue for the Irish Open Championship ranking by many critics. The sandy soil of the Portmarnock peninsula makes it ideal for golf. Now has 27 holes with room for more. Its potential as a golf links was realised in 1894.

For any non golfers the chance to explore a 1000 year old city is at your doorstep. There are hop-on, hop-off guided city tours, private city tour, guided walking tours to choose from. Museums, Government buildings, Georgian architecture, gardens, gallery's, Trinity College and many more Interesting activities to select from. Golf at Baltray Golf Club (County Louth)

Travel time approx. 1 hr 30 mins

A championship links which can be enjoyed by every category of golfer which is not as well known as some of the other links courses. Baltray's demands are stern but its rewards are many, not least in the fun and enjoyment it evokes and the sense of freshness that prevails.

For non golfers there is a journey back 5000 years to explore Newgrange and include this with a visit to The Hill of Tara (High King of Ireland) and Boyne Valley will fascinate and enthrall you for the day.

Golf at Royal Co. Down Golf Club

Travel time approx 2 hrs 30 mins

Founded in 1889, the course offers an exhilerating challenge to even the most experienced golfers. The setting of this links course is continually remarked upon for its outstanding beauty. The Mountains of Mourne in all their glory rise up from the Irish Sea. The fact that this course has five blind tee shots and several partially obscured approach shots makes it all the more formidable challenge to play this is in addition to its well positioned bunkers. Professional golfers from all over the world rate Royal County Down as one of the best. Currently ranked 9th in the world.

As Royal County Down is a 3 hours drive from you hotel we recommend any non golfers to remain in Dublin for shopping and the continuation of their exploration of the city.

Golf at Island Golf Club

Travel time approx. 40 mins

Enveloped on three sides by the sea, this is a naturally true links course. The 1st, 3rd and 7th are probably the best holes on the outward nine but the most spectacular are to be found on the inward half. The 12th needs an excellent drive while the 13th is a superb par 3 of 190 metres, requiring a long iron or wood shot to reach a naturally well protected green. Non golfers could tag along to visit Malahide Castle and the fishing village of Howth which are closeby.
